Automate factory floor movement

Software-Coordinated Line-Side & WIP Flow

SESTO Robotics deployed MagFleet to automate factory floor movement, using Magnus Shelf AMRs as execution units within a live manufacturing environment.

MagFleet functioned as the central control layer, coordinating movement tasks between, line-side stations, buffer areas, and inter-area handover points. Tasks were assigned and adjusted to support daily production needs.

Challenges:
  • Line-side replenishment and WIP movement relied on manual coordination, making timing inconsistent and difficult to scale.
  • SKU changes, line adjustments, and temporary buffers required ad-hoc decisions that were hard to standardise.
  • Supervisors lacked a clear view of task status, priorities, and bottlenecks across shifts.
Solution:
  • Movement requests were generated, queued, prioritised, and dispatched automatically based on production rules and operational demand.
  • MagFleet managed task sequencing, zone access, and routing logic to support predictable line-side and inter-area movement.
  • Magnus Shelf units carried kits, bins, and WIP, allowing direct operator interaction while MagFleet handled task flow.
  • Routes, priorities, and workflows were updated in MagFleet to reflect line changes, new SKUs, and evolving layouts.

All movement activity was monitored centrally, enabling operations teams to understand what was moving.

Outcome:
  • Line-side and WIP movement followed consistent, repeatable rules across shifts.
  • MagFleet reduced reliance on informal communication and manual task assignment.
  • Supervisors gained clearer insight into movement status and potential bottlenecks on the factory floor.
