Automate Internal Movement in Aerospace Operations

Software-Coordinated Line-Side & WIP Flow

SESTO Robotics deployed MagFleet to coordinate internal movement within an aerospace manufacturing and assembly environment, using Magnus Shelf AMRs as execution units.

MagFleet acted as the central coordination layer, generating, sequencing, and dispatching movement tasks between assembly bays, kitting areas, buffer zones, and inter-area handover points.

Challenges:
  • Line-side replenishment and WIP transfers were handled through manual communication, making timing inconsistent and difficult to standardise.
  • Part variants, build-stage differences, and temporary buffers required frequent decisions that were hard to coordinate consistently.
  • Supervisors lacked a consolidated view of task status, priorities, and emerging bottlenecks across shifts.
Solution:
  • Movement requests were generated, queued, prioritised, and dispatched automatically based on production rules and operational needs.
  • MagFleet managed task order, zone access, and routing logic to support smooth movement between assembly bays
  • Magnus Shelf units transported kits, bins, and WIP, while MagFleet handled task logic, priorities, and flow.
  • Routes, priorities, and workflows were updated in MagFleet to reflect configuration changes, new part variants, and layouts.
  • All movement activity was monitored centrally, giving operations teams clear visibility into what was moving.
Outcome:
  • Line-side and WIP movement followed repeatable, software-defined patterns across all shifts.
  • MagFleet reduced informal communication and manual task assignment.
  • Supervisors gained clearer insight into movement status and potential bottlenecks.
