Autonomous Internal Logistics for Healthcare Facilities

Software-Coordinated Movement of Clinical Supplies

SESTO Robotics deployed MagFleet to coordinate internal hospital logistics across a large healthcare facility, with Magnus Lifter AMRs executing tasks based on centrally defined software logic.

MagFleet acted as the central orchestration layer, scheduling and dispatching transport tasks between central supply, wards, pharmacies, and service areas. All movement was coordinated in software to support all operation alongside patients, visitors, and clinical staff.

Challenges:
  • Nurses and support staff spent valuable time coordinating and pushing carts, reducing time available for patient care.
  • Manual coordination led to delays and variability in delivery and collection timing, especially during peak hours.
Solution:
  • Transport requests were generated, queued, and dispatched automatically based on urgency and operational rules.
  • Magnus Lifter AMRs performed repeatable pickup, transport, and placement of carts at defined handover points, following instructions issued by MagFleet.
  • MagFleet coordinated routes and speed profiles to enable smooth navigation in corridors and service areas shared with people.
  • Routes, zones, and task logic were updated directly in MagFleet to support departmental changes and evolving hospital workflows.

Each task was monitored centrally, providing operations teams with visibility and control over daily logistics activity.

Outcome:
  • Staff spent less time managing routine cart movement and more time on patient-facing responsibilities.
  • MagFleet ensured consistent delivery and collection timing across day, night, and weekend shifts.
  • Software-coordinated AMR movement reduced ad-hoc cart traffic in corridors and service areas.
